Malawi

Quotes from our tours:

Malawi, 2009

Favourite partner visit: "Ekwendeni - wonderful to see what a small dam could achieve and the people were so welcoming"

"Malawi is truly the warm heart of Africa, I felt totally safe. I found both young and old a absolute delight with good senses of humour"

"One of the favourite days was by Lake Malawi, so relaxing - a chalet on the beach! And the visits from there both to Bandawe and the walk to the village and able to have lunch in Alickson's house and meet his family"

"Abase (our tour guide) was just brilliant"

"Wonderful to see how our money is being spent, it puts new heart into volunteering"

"It was all organised for us so very easy to experience another country and culture, especially meeting the people"

"If I had to choose (a favourite) it would probably be Eutini because the committee at the irrigation scheme were so enthusiastic and so committed to their ownership of the scheme, but I'm glad to have had the range of visits and enjoyed each one"

How would you describe the tourist attractions visited: "It was simply good to have time to process the project visits and time to reflect on them before the next one. The two highlights were Chinteche Inn and the beach /sunrise/swimming there and Mvuu Camp with the guided animal safaris. I also enjoyed the village walk at Chinteche Inn and the hospitality from Alickson Phirie"

"Abassi was the fount of all knowledge about Malawi and what to do/not to do there! His knowledge of trees, plants, birds and animals was excellent and he was very attentive to us and a good driver. We all appreciated him very much and came to rely on his competence, skills and judgement - especially in what constituted a fair bargain!"

"I have a better understanding of some aspects of the culture. I have had links with Malawi for 30 years but can now associate places and descriptions with my experience of them which enriches the meaning"
