Nestling in Africa’s Great Rift Valley and stretching along the western bank of the third biggest lake in the continent, Malawi is one of the smallest countries in Africa. With approximately 85% of the population living in rural communities, drought can have devastating effects here. When disaster does strike, Christian Aid partners provide targeted emergency response to address the consequent food shortages. They are also involved in longer-term projects to improve farming techniques, helping communities adapt to future environmental challenges.

Your trip will take in a range of Christian Aid-backed projects, from those working to improve agricultural practices and protect the environment, to education and health issues, particularly in the fight against the spread of HIV.

No trip would be complete without time to appreciate the natural wonders that shape every visitor’s experience of Malawi. With time on the shores of Lake Malawi and in a culturally and environmentally responsible safari camp in Liwonde National Park, you will discover why Malawi remains such a treasured destination for those lucky enough to have visited.
